The windows on your home are your view to the world. Windows that are covered with dirt, hand prints, algae, spider webs or numerous other impurities, can leave you with a distorted view of the outside world. What type of windows do you have installed?
Single pane? Double pane? Gas filled? Are they double hung? Are they true divided lights? Determining the construction is a correct first step in determining the method you will choose to clean your windows. What works on tinted glass may not work on non-tinted and vice-a-versa. Different products require different cleaning methods. We are experts when it comes to the proper method. You can rest assured that we will properly care for your project. Leave the worry with us.
How Deep is Your Clean?
The first thing to determine when you're taking on a window cleaning project is how big of a job you have on your hands. Will a light once-over do the trick, or will you need to call in the pros (us) for some of those really tough upper story jobs? There are three basic levels of window cleaning:
- Light, General Cleaning: A good rinsing with a garden hose and mild detergent soap might get out the dirt that's on the surface. For tougher grime, try a stronger soap, or soap plus ammonia. In southwest Texas, where the climate is conducive to the growth of mold and algae, a mildewcide may be necessary.
- Washing: A good scrubbing with a brush and the correct chemicals can make the job turn out more professional. In most cases this is the preferred method. By using a little "elbow-grease" and the correct combination of gentle chemicals, most windows can be brought into pristine, crystal clear condition. We like this method for our climate and for most projects we encounter here around the Houston area. This is our specialty.
- Window Polishing: In some instances, general cleaning practices are not conducive to the required results. Hard water stains, paint over-spray, chemical deposits and a long list of other factors can require a bit more attention. If you have water spots all over some of the glass from years of the sprinklers hitting them, or one of the other conditions listed above, window polishing may be required. In these instances it's best to use a pro and that's where we come in. We are professional window polishing experts.
